Prom season 2012 is well under way. For Persun, it’s time to start thinking about prom 2013.

As girls across the country don their frilly ballgowns and sparkling dresses, Persun's designers prepares to travel to southern China, where the designers will work on the hundreds of dresses that girls will choose from for next prom season.

It comes just once a year, but prom fashions account for about half of the 25-year-old Persun’s annual sales, James Chuang said.

“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” he said. “She goes to prom once, so she is willing to buy the best dress.”

PERSUN’s dresses average $180 and range from $70 to about $400.

Bright colors and fleshy tones will be common as girls take to the dance floor this spring. While many will wear ball gowns and classic evening dress “” the styels that never goes out of fashion “” James said some of the most fashion-forward teens will be wearing high-low gowns.

“The feature is short in the front and long in the back,” he said. “That’s a big trend today.”

Plenty of feathers make a dress for prom 2012 even trendier, he said.

Of the 11 PERSUN fashion lines, six are for prom. From his Brad Darcy headquarters, James Chuang each one and then travels the world in search of the perfect fabrics to bring his drawings to life.

At this point, the sketching is done and it’s time to start making samples of next year’s dresses. From those, he will choose which dresses will be offered up to his more than 2,000 retailers worldwide.

As a leading designer of upper-priced prom gowns, PERSUN’s head designer  Lynn Green helps to set the trends. But she also has to consider the opinions of parents and school officials when designing his prom fashions.

More schools, he said, are making rules about how much skin can show.

“We have to be closely in contact with all the school systems,” he said.

Lynn Green doesn’t want to say much about what his crystal ball of fashion shows for Prom 2013, but he does offer a hint.

“Look for trumpet dresses,” he said, also known as a mermaid style. “That’s going to be the big thing for 2013.”

Every girl dreams to be a princess at a prom, here are some tips for you. Not just your dress, but your hairstyle. The right dress and the right makeup are as important as right clothes. A perfect hairstyle will complete your look to the prom. The traditional hairstyle is an updo but you can try other hairstyles that will make you stand apart from others.

For girls who have curls style your hair and cut bangs. Perfectly set hair that is curly will look very stylish. Bangs and curls look adorable on girls who have long and narrow face. Style your curls and make them manageable by using hair styling products. Using these products will fix your curls in place. Smooth and manageable curls with bangs that fall on your forehead will make you look perfect for the prom night ahead.

Smooth your hair into a low ponytail and use a curling iron to curl the ends. Once all the ends are curled, start around the outside of the curls and pin them far out to make the ponytail look more substantial. You can accent the spot where the ponytail is showing by either wrapping a strand of your own hair around it and pinning it underneath or inserting a braided piece of hair and securing with bobby pins underneath the curls. Spray the whole thing with aerosol hairspray and you’re done.

Use medium hot rollers around the whole head and a curling iron to do the bangs. If your hair is longer, pull it up into a side ponytail without stretching out the curls and pin the curls randomly around the ponytail. If your hair is shorter, just pin the curls up and to one side. Spritz with some firm hold shine hairspray to hold it all in place then tuck a few bright exotic flowers in the top or clip in some sparkles. This style is easy and flirty.

This one will take more practice, but will definitely be worth the effort. Start by separating bangs out in front and then the back into two sections ““ top and bottom. Smooth the bottom section in the back into a ponytail straight back from the ears in the center of the head. Next, smooth the top section into a ponytail about two inches above the bottom ponytail. Use a large barrel curling iron to create barrel curls by rolling away from the center of the ponytail. Instead of letting each curl fall free, keep them rolled up. Use bobby pins the color of your hair to secure the rolls underneath. Make sure you overlap them so they stay in place. Don’t make every curl the exact same size. Follow the circular direction of the center of the ponytail to create the bun effect. Overlap the top and bottom ponytails to blend them together. Smooth the bangs using a curling iron or flat iron and pin them back loosely or let pieces hang down ““ however you are comfortable is fine.
